A few memories from the year.
A few memories from the year.
The Cancer Society is celebrating it’s 75th year in Taranaki by burying a time capsule.
The organisation, originally a branch of the British Empire Cancer Campaign in 1929, supports cancer patients before, during and after treatment.
Long time volunteer Lis McBride says the society forfills very important work in society.
“Patients of cancer have tremendous support, but there are other families that do not, and the Cancer Society fills that gap.”
Witt Journalism students Taryn Utiger, Kyle Wadsworth and Corey Taylor went to find out more:
Last week Witt Journalism ventured into the Taranki Newspapers’ printing press – it’s just two doors away from our newsroom actually, but we’d never visited until now.
Seeing as we are going to be playing around with video next weekish, I thought I’d edit a quick clip together so you guys could see where your Taranaki Daily News, North Taranaki Midweek, and South Taranaki Star come from. Enjoy!

Call me a gay boy BUT I totally LOVED that The Spice Girls got back together to perform at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics!
I did love the group as a kid and totally sucks I never saw them live. But I think this made my year =D
Here’s a video filmed for Wintec’s Huge Day Out – a open day for students to come though the Hamilton campus and take a look around at some of the courses they offer.
Glyn and I were asked to be apart of it last year, and I’m pretty sure they are using the video this year as well. See if you can spot us – I look really bad and really hairy. Oh well
If you haven’t already seen this hit song making the rounds,
then you really have to. It’s a remix of a news item, where a woman’s apartment block was on fire. She makes some pretty cool quotes, and someone remixed it all into a really groovy song so make sure you check it out!
